Review of Chicago (1927) by Kevin S — 16 Feb 2012
This movie did NOT deserve the Academy Award for Best Picture, that honor should have gone to Gangs of New York. John C. Reily and Richard Gere are the best part of this movie but the problem is that you don't really see John C.
Reily all that much till about half way through the movie. The best musical number was the one where Renee Zellweger was a puppet and Richard Gere was the puppet master although John C. Reily had a pretty good solo number and there was some pretty good camera work/visuals with a particular Renee Zellweger number where they used a lot of mirrors.
My main problem with this movie is that I hated Renee Zellweger and Catherine Zeta-Jones' characters and so when that's almost all you're getting for about an hour it can get really dry.
