Review of Chicago 10 (2008) by Todd L — 04 Oct 2008
Interestimg film, yet, like most documentaries, far from an objective look at the events portrayed. There's certainly no denying that terrible things happened in Chicago during the DNC and the trial that followed, but what's interesting is that this film, probably somewhat unintentially hints that these terrible events were just theater to folks involved.
Everyone from the protesters to the Dailey administration, they were all trying to put on a show. From a technical standpoint, the animation is interesting but a bit stiff. The majority looks like a combination between computer graphics and rotoscoping.
Much more intersting are the few segments that use more traditional hand-drawn animation. And, sorry to say, the voice work is terrible. Too cartoonish for the subject matter.
