Review of Cherrybomb (2009) by Remi L — 26 Nov 2011
Just another run-of-the-mill coming of age story about a bunch of disaffected teens living in a small town who rebel with drugs, alcohol and vandalism. Malachy (Grint) is the do-gooder hanging with the wrong crowd, Luke (Sheehan) is the kid on the wrong side of the tracks with an incredibly dysfunctional family, and Michelle (Nixon) is the prodigal screw-up returning home to cause mayhem within her own family as well as between our two childhood friends.
The fireworks and chaos are immediate when these three join forces, but said chaos is predictable. I didn't feel like this story contributed anything new to this constantly rehashed tale. I only watched it because of Grint and he doesn't bring anything to the table either.
Don't bother with this one. Not even for the Grint.
