Review of Chernobyl Diaries (2012) by Timothy G — 07 Feb 2013
At first the story seems promising; a group of young people decide to visit the abandoned city of Prypiat which happens to be extremely close to where the Chernobyl disaster happened. Their vehicle is tampered with and their guide disappears so there is no way of leaving.
The cast is put together with little known actors, and their characters decide to make all the wrong moves when trying to escape. A lot of the night scenes are filmed virtually in complete darkness so a lot is left up to the viewer's imagination.
Overall, a concept that starts off fairly intriguing is let down at the finish by many loose ends.
