Review of Chernobyl Diaries (2012) by Hunter H — 01 Jun 2013
Chernobyl Diaries suffers from a good idea, unfortunately it is bogged down by a mediocre script, bland acting and virtually no scares whatsoever. It's never a good thing when a horror movie's locations are scarier than the monsters featured in the film.
The film's first half is interesting enough to warrant a 3/5. And yet, the film collapses in on itself when the scares begin to filer in on clichà (C) after clichà (C). Creating an interesting atmosphere with very boring scare scenes and violence that almost looked as if they were aiming for a PG-13 if not for the language.
Leading to an ending so disappointing, you'll feel that your 80 minutes could've been used elsewhere.
