Review of Chernobyl Diaries (2012) by Peter R — 08 Jun 2013
This film held great potential, but was completely squandered by a meandering, unfocused story. The concrete setting, narrow hallways are a claustrophobic nightmare, yet we hold no vested interest in the characters, or revel in the horror because the crew are mostly an unsympathetic lot.
Also, the menace that pursues them are not clearly defined, and it diminishes their shock factor. It's a shame that a movie with such a terrific premise wastes it on a lazy script and lackluster direction.
