Review of Chernobyl Diaries (2012) by Dov D — 23 Aug 2013
When in with low expectations and received just that. The entire movie isn't scary, though it's apparent they tried so many times to set up a creepy atmosphere / boo scares. But it didn't work.
HOWEVER. What the movie does do quite well, is serve as a tour of Pripyat and Chernobyl; something I myself find quite fascinating. Being able to see the towns (though in most cases built to look like the areas for obvious radioactive reasons) was easily the most fun part of this movie. And the bear. The bear was pretty cool.
Nice attempt, got some sad elements going on, but the movie is still a flop that could've had much more potential. And the ending, ugh what a cop out, boo.
