Review of Chasing Amy (1997) by Eugene G — 15 Jan 2012
This is what happens when you try and combine poop jokes, a romantic comedy, and a gay/lesbian empowerment movie all into one film. what you are left is a confused mess. the first half was actually decently amusing thanks to jason lee and ewell, adams cemented herself as a b rated supporting actress with over the top scenes of "emotional distress".
the plot was actually fine until the last twenty minutes when affleck's character jumps to the conclusion that he has to have sex with his lee and adams... I think it was supposed to be funny but instead it came off as serious conclusion that created an awkward plot support.
overall not a horrible movie, but it will never be more than a cult favorite as most will be put off by the erratic plot jumps.
