Review of Charlie's Country (2013) by Michael D — 30 Sep 2014
Gullipul is extraordinary here in what is essential a self portrayal. A real gifted actor and no better man to personify the struggle of the aging elder Aboriginal population in todays modern world. De Heer managed Ten Canoes wonderfully but he lets this one go a bit.
It becomes too repetitive and problematic in its message half way through. He does however elevate a commanding power in his lead and as usual gives us all something wise to think about in this revolving dumboland circus currently enacted by the Abbott government.
