Review of Charlie Wilson's War (2007) by Holly H — 03 Feb 2010
Pretty good movie...I'm sure most would call this a "great" movie, but I don't get into politics, etc. A very slow start, but I think it was required to give you all of the background info.
Once the movie got going, it was so funny, I had a good laugh most of the rest of the way through. Tom Hanks' looks are very different from the real Charlie Wilson, but I think he did a good job playing him overall.
I felt like I was missing a lot of little pieces of the story somehow, because once things got moving, they got moving pretty fast! It makes me wonder if the chaos and mayhem I witnessed as this "behind the scenes" view of a congressman's life is anywhere near to what it might really be like? Hmmm.
..that got me wondering. Amazing that this overlooked congressman was able to successfully gain the funding and execute a war without a lot of questions being asked...kinda scary!
