Review of Chariots of Fire (1981) by Asen B — 06 Oct 2010
The passage of time as told through a funeral - eternal and thoroughly classic in the old sense of the word "yarn" and a tad reminiscent of the structuring of "Lawrence of Arabia" but still holding its own topically and stylistically.
That legendary music by the famed Grecian gent helps, too, and immensely at that! Cannst thou imagine anything else accompanying them as they run on the beach?! It is one of these scores that inspire, thrill and uplift, and without which the film wouldn't be as effective as this specific gem of filmmaking.
Mortality??? What mortality!!!
