Review of Chapter 27 (2007) by Ryan D — 09 May 2012
This movie is quite uncomfortable, and pretty much revolves around Mark David Chapman asking himself the same questions over and over and there isn't much cinematic variety to distract us from this-but it was very intentionally made like this to reflect the inner turmoil of Mark David Chapman. And although we never get a convincing reason why Lennon was killed, I think it's safe to say there really is no convincing reason as to why he should have been killed; so in a way it reflects reality quite well.
The thing that stood out the most though, is how certain events and lines of dialogue mirrored the events from the Catcher in the Rye.
Although not quite inspiring or enlightening, this film is interesting for those with a bit more patience than the average movie watcher. Also, for those who remember reading the Catcher in the Rye, I recommend watching so that you can keep your eye on how Chapman reenacted scenes from Holden Caulfield's "life".
