Review of Chappie (2015) by Daniel F — 14 Jul 2015
Blomkamp's third Sci-Fi feature film is closely behind District 9 as his second best. A hugely entertaining ride with a very likeable robot lead, Chappie is lovably voiced by the excellent Sharlto Copley and is reminiscent of the 80's childhood favourite Short Circuit, mixed up with a bit of Robocop but at the same time managing to remain fresh and a great concept.
It's only downsides are an annoying performance by Die Antwood's Ninja and not quite enough emphasis on some of the human characters. That said Chappie remains hugely entertaining and an enjoyable Sci-fi action ride that I would happily revisit.
