Review of Chappie (2015) by Jose L — 08 Aug 2015
Incredible special effects. I love how Blomkamp makes his films. Unfortunately not much substance to keep up with the effect. I like the philosophical aspects. As with Elysium, if you look at the deeper levels, the movie gets better, but Elysium had a better story.
Hugh Jackman is laughable as the bad guy, doing an also satirical stereotype of an Aussie. Overall pretty predictable, but pretty to look at. A good movie to debate over AI and what is morally acceptable in regards to human consciousness.
I really liked the homage to Robocop in the beginning.
