Review of Chappie (2015) by Dukeoffluke — 14 Mar 2015
I can't understand the mixed reviews from the professional critics? This film is very, very good and very much worth your time. Chappie explores; what it means to be human and consciousness, our emotional complexities and behaviours, crime and law enforcement and our ever growing dependence on technology.
A lot like Neill Blomkamp's other two films it has a great focus on poverty. This film is trademark Blomkamp, who is very much becoming a filmmaking auteur. If you like District 9 then you'll love Chappie.
The robotics in Elysium were no doubt the most intriguing aspect of the film and they have explore them further in this film. Chappie is a thrilling and emotional joyride and excellently made. Superb science fiction.
