My takeaway was that Ted Kennedy simply did not have a strong enough moral.

Character to make the best decisions before and after the accident. It's likely he drank too much and simply panicked. I liked the movie because it was an authentic portrayal of the times ( I was fifteen at the time). The events were pretty much as I remembered them, so there were no big surprises there, but it did offer to clear up a couple of questions have always lingered for me.
