Review of Chappaquiddick (2018) by Alan W — 22 Aug 2018
Chappaquiddick (aka The Senator) ** proves that not every story associated with the Kennedy clan is worth celluloid time. Despite gallant efforts from Jason Clarke, Ed Helms (trying to prove he can do drama but he could've picked something less TV movie-ish) and the rest of a decent cast, this is a damp squib of a film that couldn't bear to camp it up for entertainment value nor do they have enough interesting or verifiable (i.
E. speculation that they cannot be sued for) material to make a song and dance about its newsworthiness as an untold true story. The result is therefore both fun-less and soul-less.
