Remarkably unremarkable. I'm surprised because as of late, Reynolds has usually taken roles that allow his character to really shine but the case remains that this film was really pretty bland (through no real fault of his own--he did have a few good moments, ill give him that).

Aside from Reynolds however, the rest of the acting was only mediocre or otherwise bland and the film lacks any real emotional glue. The same cliche has been so many times over that the film seems to regurgitate the whole 'uptight middle-American-afraid-of- his-own-shadow-who-miraculously-learns-to-live-a-fulfilling-life' stereotype and rehashes it in a way that forces it to lose the charm of its originality in about a fourth of the runtime.

It tries to make profound statements about life and love but for the most part there is nothing really special about what they have to say and the director or writers take no bold efforts to remedy that.

They toss in a few quirks and 'clever' little visual tidbits but aside from the moments where they pat themselves on the back for their 'ingenuity', there isnt really much else. This sounds pretty scathing and I dont mean to imply that it's a complete waste, but if you're looking for a quality life lesson in the form of a dramedy.

..then i'll just say that i've had much better.
