Review of Changeling (2008) by Josh E — 18 Jul 2012
Changeling is about a woman named, Christine Collins who has lost her son after coming home from work. She files a missing child report with the police, and years later she is informed that they have found him. But the boy found by the police is not her son, and of course she complains about this. The chief of police say that he has been through some unusual changes, and therefore this is why his appearance is slightly different. But they have not fooled her, and so she continues to complain about this. Soon she is forced into a Psychiatric hospital, and the only way she can get out is by admitting that the boy they have found is truly her son. This is all based on a true story.
The film brings suspense, tears, excitement, and great performances. Clint Eastwood (The Director) brings all of these categories in a light and somewhat calming style. One of the greatest things in which this film brings is Angelina Jolie's performance as Christine Collins. After watching this movie some may find it almost hard to believe that Angelina Jolie is the kind of actress that brings paparazzi behind herself. You know? Like Cameron Diaz, Lindsay Lohan, Megan Fox, ETC. The performance in which she delivered is most definitely Oscar worthy. And it's not just her performance that is great in this movie, but everyone else's as well. Now, while this movie does have its achievements it also has its flaws. For one this movie doesn't offer enough in its time. In fact, everything moves too slowly. The running time is: 141 Minutes. There could have been more things added to the story, or it could have just been moving at a faster pace. Instead it moves slowly. Not to mention that not everything in the true story of Christine Collins is added. But despite these flaws, this movie is still worth watching. As long as it's viewers are willing to put up with it's slow pace, they will be entertained because it still manages to excite. Loving mothers beware, because this can be a nightmare for all of you with children of your own.
