Review of Changeling (2008) by Matthew H — 25 Feb 2011
What really drew me to Changeling was the fact that it was a true story. Films about true stories have always interested me. Changeling was a film in which I admired before I saw due to direction by Clint Eastwood and acting credits from Angelina Jolie.
Changeling is set in the 1920s and tells the story of Christine Collins whos son is kidnapped. A massive police hunt is ordered. A boy is found who claims to be Christine's son. Christine, however, is totally convinced that the boy is not her son. The story surrounds Mrs Collins' massive battle against the police and court cases in order to prove that the police are wrong. But how will she fair when women, at this time, were classed at second class citizens?
Changeling is more than just your average detective, legal drama. The film has some of the most incredible acting and directing I have ever seen (no joke!). Angelina gives her best acting credit to date, in my opinion. Changeling has some of the most shocking and unbelievable twists and turns and is literally a rollercoaster of emotions that will bring out tears and gasps of astonishment to even the most hardened of people. Overall...phenomenal.
