Review of Certain Women (2016) by Clif S — 11 Nov 2016
A film with few redeeming qualities, I contemplated leaving before its conclusion. The characters lack motive, depth and personality. The painfully long shots lacked gravity, giving the viewer little reason to care about any of the main characters.
Sad and depressing, the director chose to cast a dark view of Montana and Montanans. I live here and though Maile Meloy, who's stories the film is based on, is from here, I think her view is more stark and pessimistic than mine.
