Review of Centurion (2010) by Brian V — 17 Nov 2010
Elite Roman military men are faced with the reality that their war is lost and thatbasic survival (in "the asshole of the world") is all they have left until they're forced to take a stand.
A barrage of blood and incapacitations compensate for the boring stretches. Bountiful visual effects but thankfully the movie does not rely on that alone. The acting is over the top but adequate, and the female leads really make the most in the hypermasculine context, particularly Kurylenko as the "wolf-woman".
Doesn't maintain intensity for the whole duration, but overall it's a pretty good mid-week rental.
