Review of Centurion (2010) by Dave L — 23 Nov 2010
Michael Fassbender play the Centurion trying to get the remnants of his legion back from behind enemy lines. In this case the enemy are the Pits or Scots, with a vicious but mute Olga Kurylenko at their head. This plot line works quite well and there's plenty of battle scenes and blood and guts to keep you entertained for the first half of the film.
Obviously though, the Director got over confident in his ability and started adding pointless sub plots that make some many British films fall down because a, they're pointless and b they ultimately spoil the film. The last third of the film just gets worse and worse till you're convinced everyone involved went down the pub and let cleaner finish the script.
Starts off well but ultimately disappointing.
