Review of Centurion (2010) by Tapani M — 30 Jan 2011
Good story, good actors, good music, good (and bloody) FX - but there was still something that the film was missing to get full five stars. I don't know what it was - perhaps marketing and hype and big Hollywood stars :).
I liked this movie for it's neutral look on the Romans and the Picts - there was no clear cut between good and evil. Factions just had different ideas of good future and no will to compromise - therefore conflict occurred. Picts are rarely used as antagonist for Romans which is a shame because they have an interesting look and culture (yes, I read Wikipedia).
Olga Kurylenko had a surprisingly different role as a cold-blooded hunter who keeps her clothes on. :/.
