Review of Centurion (2010) by Lisa W — 15 Nov 2011
FUCKING EPIC!!! Second best movie so far of 2010. The first being Inception of course. I think it was a perfect amazing movie so which pretty much means the general going public will ignore it and drool over the next tripe that Michael "explosion" Bay puts out.
I've always liked Neil Marshall from his first extremely cheap horror Dog Soldiers to even his weakest Doomsday outing. Which caused me some mixed feelings going into this one hoping he just didn't have two greats under his belt and fade into crap like Night did.
The characters are amazing and deep though they are wonderfully defined by their actions rather then their performance. Especially the amazingly hottie Olga Kurylenko. And the way it portrays the war between the Romans and Pict is brillant.
Every side believes they are right and just in a war. And this shows that. Not all the "good" Romans are good. And you understand why the Pict acts the way that they do. Michael Fassbender is just as wonderful as anything else he does.
And seeing Noel Clarke outside of Dr. Who was a treat. The action is exciting edge of your seat white knuckle fun and the violence gore is brutal and often but never over the top. Just a perfect movie which I look forward to watching over and over again.
