Review of Centurion (2010) by Late R — 14 Feb 2018
With a surprising amount of recognisable faces from both film and TV, 'Centurion' has a stellar cast making it a well-acted affair with strong performances. Unfortunately, the script is weak in every area: the narrative, dialogue and characters are all neither particularly good nor bad, just bland and generic.
Nevertheless, what it lacks in the story department, it makes up for with a surprising amount of visual panache and fight scenes that are engaging if for no other reason than to see just how many ways they could find to chop someone up in the goriest fashion possible.
Overall, it's a fun watch and probably achieved just what it set out to do as a roman-themed, period action flick, but you can't help but feel that with a better script, it could have been outstanding.
