Review of Centurion (2010) by Jonthan H — 11 Nov 2010
This film is a step in the right direction for director Neil Marshall (Dog Soldiers). His first two films were fascinating in and of their own right, but his last seemed like a big misstep. His story about the Ninth Legion isn't great cinema, but it's respectable nonetheless.
With a strong lead from Michael Fassbender (Inglorious Basterds) and co-starring Dominic West (Punisher: War Zone) and a beautiful villainess in Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace), Marshall explores both sides of the British legend involving the Ninth.
The sweeping cinematography (not to mention the killer credit sequences) also makes this film more enjoyable than just your standard sword and sandal flick.
