Review of Cemetery Man (1994) by Paul J — 24 Apr 2012
Donnie Darko meets Evil Dead. This strange Italian horror film strikes a fine balance between comedy and bizarre horror. The acting is top-notch and the gore is plentiful. It's also somewhat erotic but I guess that comes to no surprise considering it's made a by a an Italian.
Soavi got his start alongside Bava and Argento, yet he was able to make one of the more western giallo horror films with this surreal, existential and fascinating movie. It may be silly but it's so bloody fascinating.
It was also banned. Not surprisingly, since a nun gets her head blown off.
