Review of Cemetery Junction (2010) by David L — 14 Dec 2010
Take note Shane Meadows, England isn't just council estates, chavs and concrete. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen a British film that makes England look so good. So kudos to that.
And it turns out Gervais/Merchant are far more than just comedians - there's a huge amount of depth in character here, while also keeping the audience amused (the banter between Gervais and his Mum-in-Law). This is such a brilliant coming-of-age, finding direction and believing in yourself movie that I hope to see it considered when the awards are handed out.
