From the director of "Troll" and "Ghoulies Go to College" comes "Cellar Dweller." An1950s EC Comics-like artist, played by the great Jeffrey Combs (our modern day Vincent Price), creates a new monster for his horror comic, The Cellar Dweller.

The creates then kills Combs and the film then picks up in modern time where a new comic book artist decides to bring back the character. You can guess what happens next. It's a pretty silly story, but it is an entertaining one.

The film was written by Don Mancini, who'd go on to write the Child's Play/Chucky movies for the next four decades. "Cellar Dweller" benefits from a decent cast of past movie stars (Yvonne De Carlo,Vince Edwards) and names of the moment (Combs, Debrah Farentino, Brian Robbins).

The film also features some decent creature effects and better than average photography for low budget horror films, which in this case was done by Sergio Salvati, who worked on a number of Lucio Fulci films.

Overall, this is solid low budget horror entertainment from the reliable genre producer Charles Band.
