Review of Cell (2016) by Devon W — 28 Nov 2016
The last time John Cusack and Samuel L Jackson were onscreen together it was for another Stephen King adaptation, the superbly creepy 1408. That was a great story and a brilliant film adaptation. I thought Stephen King's Cell was a superb book, it was his homage to the work of George A Romero and so when I heard about this film adaptation and who was starring I was really excited to see this.
The finished product however is a bit of a mess, large sections of the book are skipped over and the ending just looks ridiculous on the screen. Reading the book you felt the central character's desperation to be reunited with his son at any cost, here on screen father and son might as well be strangers.
It's a shame, this was a massive missed opportunity :o(.
