Review of Celeste & Jesse Forever (2012) by Richard B — 02 Sep 2012
I really like these type of indie rom-coms that have great scripts, soundtracks, and are very original. This film ranks up with (500) Days of Summer and Garden State. The plot is very cool and works great with the two leads.
Rashida Jones, who I've loved for quite a while, really is the star here and shows she can be the lead of a film. Andy Samberg, who has been hit and miss in films is great here. I didn't know which character I liked more and both leads do such great jobs.
The film is funny, sincere, serious, and sad all at the same time. The supporting cast is very good as well and provide some comic relief as well as some different perspectives. On a side note, having been two LA twice in the past 2 years, I really do enjoy films show in LA as I feel I know where the scenes take place and like that.
Overall this is one of the best films I've seen this year and will definitely be one of my top 5 at the end of the year.
