Review of Celeste & Jesse Forever (2012) by Matt B — 21 Apr 2015
It doesn't subvert rom-com conventions as much as it just tinkers with them. But I'm fine with that, to be quite honest. What it lacks in huge and/or memorable laughs it makes up for in great performances, honest drama, subtle witty moments, a perfect soundtrack, and some of the most gorgeous cinematography I've seen in a while.
Oh, and I always found myself wanting to reach into the screen and hug Rashida Jones the whole time... along with other things, too.
