Review of Cedar Rapids (2011) by Victor D — 08 Aug 2011
Sometimes when you have a good story, a very talented and likable cast and a bunch of feel good moments a comedy does not have to be laugh out loud funny to be enjoyable. Admittedly I got more laughs out of No Strings Attached or Paul but I enjoyed this film much more than both of those films.
The reason why I find this to be a better film is mainly due to its characters and the actors portraying them. The characters in this film feel real. Ed Helms is great as Tim Lippe, a lovable nerdy guy who works for an insurance company who has won the award for most ethical insurance company 2 years running. When the companies go to guy dies its up to Tim to go to Cedar Rapids for a conference where he can win the award for the third time running. When Tim gets there he meets people who help break him out of his shell and enjoy life,.
This is a very fun and charming film that at times is very funny. I look forward to seeing Ed Helms star in more films.
