Review of Cedar Rapids (2011) by Jennifer O — 09 Nov 2011
It's hard to review a good comedy and not give punch lines away. This one I really enjoyed. Ed Helms just glows. He really shows off both comedy and some acting talent at the same time. Mr. Helms is really a comic force.
He has the extraordinary ability to never hold back or worry how that he might not look cool. Even as the lead character, he knows when scene-stealer John C Riley should have the spotlight. This is a tremendous asset for a comic.
The dialogue and humor was kept real without succumbing to worn out cliches or fart jokes. I won't give away much but loved it when Riley was on screen. Especially because of his rapid-fire one-liners.
If you prefer your humor to be grounded with real genuine people, then you might want to check this one out.
