Review of Cave of Forgotten Dreams (2010) by Matthew A — 18 Jul 2011
Werner Herzog opts for a more literal approach to the material than in his previous documentary, Encounters at the End of the World. Cave of Forgotten Dreams focuses on the first and only expedition of the Chauvet Cave in France, which included Herzog himself.
His picture boasts excellent use of 3D footage and his hilarious narration, which is equal parts commentary and thinking out loud. The actual cave itself is a marvel of archaeology.
