Review of Cat's Eye (1985) by Jimmy C — 14 Sep 2010
Just rewatched this for the first time in over 20 years and simply can't tell if it's supposed to be a horror movie for cat lovers or a black comedy. It doesn't really work on either level and comes up as a half-arsed attempt to recreate The Twilight Zone.
Only the last story of the trilogy was memorable and/or any good. The first two are hampered by terrible dialogue ("Oh look, a cat") and shoddy acting (aside from James Woods). There's no real link between the three stories except for a cat, which only becomes an important character in the final tale.
Entertaining enough for it's length, but nothing special. Could have been marginally better if not for Alan Silvestri's awful music.
