Review of Cats Don't Dance (1997) by Brian S — 09 Apr 2008
Very underrated movie. granted it fits the bill for just about every formulaic kids' movie, but it has a fresh and original flare to it that makes it stand out from the rest. while playing the standard schmaltz for the kids, it throws in nods to the golden age of filmmaking--the atmosphere, the style, the Hollywood musical.
the fact that it's one of the last hand-drawn animated movies is a tribute in itself. the movie posters at the end were also quite enjoyable. a superb animated send-off for the great Gene Kelly.
