Review of Catfish (2010) by Peter H — 29 Oct 2011
The ambiguous trailer and the fact that these two directors went on to helm Paranormal Activity 3 might mislead you into expecting something scary to happen at the end of Catfish. Let me dispel this misconception.
Catfish is nonetheless an excellent documentary. It's funny, sad, more than a little creepy, and tugs at the heart. The only downside for the viewer (unless he/she wanted a scary movie) is that the film's fascinating mystery gives way to series of interviews reminiscent of the Oprah show which drag along for what seems like a long time.
I can still recommend Catfish to most people for its cultural relevance and how it unfolds its story.
