Review of Catch-22 (1970) by Kevin H — 22 Oct 2008
Very difficult to translate the work of one the cleverest and funniest books ever written onto the big screen. I wasn't sure how it would even be possible. The film works but it doesn't capture the complexities of the book, the sub-plots etc.
If you haven't read the book, i;m sure that it would come over as a superb film explaining the insanity of war, but as someone who has read it and loved it, I was left a little cold by the film and didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I thought or hoped I would.
