Review of Cat People (1942) by Andrzej B — 11 Aug 2008

Val Lewton was a low budget horror movie producer back in the early 40's. His movies are always fun and have nice creepy moment. Cat People is no exception. The lovely Simone Simon plays a young woman who fears that if she shows any affection she will turn into a killer panther.

There are some great moments- the heroine is about to go swimming when you slowly hear padded cat feet coming at her. Sound and shadow are creepier than if we ever saw the cat. Another great moment is when we see some bloody paw- prints slowy become human foot-prints.

great fun if you like atmosphere over gore.
