Review of Cat People (1942) by Matthew L — 22 Nov 2008
Highly effective Val Lewton horror film (the first in his series of nine) about a young Serbian artist who meets and falls in love with a charismatic American, but because of an old Serbian legend fears she will turn into a vicious jaguar in moments of passion.
A solid psychological thriller that may sound hokey, but emphasizes fear of the unseen, and as such works quite well.
