Review of Cat People (1942) by Scott K — 01 Jun 2011
Genuinely creepy B-movie from producer Val Lewton and great noir director Jacques Touneur. All of the "scares" take place off camera, or in the minds of the characters. Editing, lighting and sound design are used to perfection to highten the suspense.
Haven't seen the '80s Paul Schrader remake, but am curious to see if its scares are more overt and literal.
