Review of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958) by Adam P — 03 Jan 2009
Wow! What a great movie. Cat On a Hot Tin Roof slams home the importance and the power of raw truthfulness... both with those we love and with ourselves, as well as the power of lies and deceit with same. In Brick (Paul Newman) is an outstanding metaphor for the human condition - too ashamed of his own incapacity to look it straight in the face, and yet to cowardly not to play moth to his flaw's flame. Ironically honest about what he is... so honest that he is frozen in his inability to live with himself... so honest that he is lost in soothing lies. Only in taking ownership of what he is by confessing it to another, does Brick find "the guts to live.".
Watch this movie. Then let it change the way you live.
