Review of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958) by Noel K — 04 Jul 2009
Wow. A depressing take on a dysfunctional family like only Tennessee Williams can bring to life. Elizabeth Taylor's performance was good but I think it is over rated. Paul Newman shows a wide range of acting ability, considering he was labeled a pretty face (along with Brando, James Dean, Montgomery Clift) at that time.
I think Madeleine Sherwood gives a great performance as Mae Pollitt. Movies with long dialog-filled scenes are rarity these days and it is pleasure to see such a treasure.
