A funny little folk tale about a schoolteacher who becomes an outlaw, this is a hell a lot better than I thought it would be.

Jane Fonda stars as the titular heroine, a sort of wild west Robin Hood-ette, set on righting the wrongs all around her. She sets out only trying to defend her father and ends up trying to bring down the big power players.

Lee Marvin co-stars in two different roles as a sort of Wild Bill Hickcock and as one of the henchmen for the big bad.

The entire film is narrated by Nat King Cole as a sort of travelling bard. I would never have thought his soothing voice would fit in this kind of movie, yet somehow it does and this narration ends up making the film seem like one big campfire tale.

A good time.
