Review of Casualties of War (1989) by Daniel S — 18 Feb 2008
Just like every Brian de Palma movie, "Casualties of War" goes so far over-the-top that sometimes it's hard to take seriously - which would be fine if it weren't a realistic war movie. Watching soldiers complain that they need to kill their prisoner because she's coughing makes perfect sense until they start screaming. Dramatic, yes; logical, no.
So why the high rating? Because "Casualties of War" is powerful. Not "Platoon" powerful, but powerful enough that it won't leave you easily. Trust me.
