The most painful war film I have ever seen. De Palma does not by any means try to sympathize with the audience in his determination to tell such a disturbing story. Sean Penn's performance as a rapist soldier is terriffying, and Michael J.
Fox is also good when he's not giving heavy-handed lectures about doing the right thing. Once again, though, another one of De Palma's films that should probably be much longer... after all, it IS a Vietnam film.
