Review of Cast Away (2000) by Kenneth B — 20 Jan 2013
It was actually coincidence that I (re)watched this shortly after seeing Ang Lee's Life of Pi. It perhaps worked to the detriment of Zemeckis' film because Life of Pi was so good, this felt a bit middle of the road.
It is an endearing film and Tom Hanks has to be one of the most likeable actors in Hollywood but I cant help thinking that this story would have been better off in different hands, as a less mainstream film it may have felt more raw.
Who knows, if I hadn't just seen Life of Pi this may have been a 3.5/5.
