Review of Cast Away (2000) by Liv P — 29 Sep 2013
Entertaining film. I've seen it many times now and watch it every time it comes on. The simplicity of the island and how disconnected from modern life it truly was even back in the 90's is a stark reminder of where we've come from.
The film also does a decent exploration of losing one's mind and what we do to keep sane in the face of madness. Keep the mind busy. As interesting as the island part was though, the ending was kind of bland.
While that may have been the point it could have been pulled off in different ways. Hanks looking at everything in a different light was a bit overdone (crab legs, swiss army knife, lighter). Still an overall good film that's worth watching.
